Middle school and high school courses include weekly assignments, scheduled lessons and activities, and assignments with set due dates. Optional and required instructional sessions are scheduled throughout the week to support student learning. Students can create a schedule that enables them to complete academic work and receive teacher support throughout the day.
Our Flex program gives Flex students additional freedom to set their own daily learning plan, while meeting the scheduled deadlines and due dates set by the school. Flex students are offered optional live virtual classes, with flexible scheduling throughout the school day and week. They are also assigned teachers for support and resources.
All programs meet applicable statutes and mandates concerning academic progress and attendance as outlined by the State Board of Education.
At ISAZ, we specialize in supporting students who are struggling. Our credit recovery and remediation courses help students get back on track. Our efficient approach to credit recovery lets students test out of the material they’ve already learned and focus strictly on what they need to pass, often helping them stay on top of their current classes while catching up. Credit recovery courses are also offered during special summer sessions.
The amount of time students spend learning online varies by grade level and individual needs. Middle school students typically spend more than 60% of their school time online, while high school students typically spend more than 80%.
Time online may include asynchronous lessons, live online sessions with teachers, and collaborating with peers on assignments and projects. Students also spend time learning offline doing activities such as hands-on science experiments, reading novels, and completing math problems. So, students won’t necessarily spend their entire school day on the computer.

We will consider each student who has been expelled from an Arizona public school and submits an enrollment application on an individual basis. However, families may work with ISAZ teachers and administration to swap vacation days based on family preferences with no penalty or unexcused absences. Online School Technical FAQs
Yes, students need a computer that meets the minimum specifications necessary to access the K12 School (OLS) and an internet connection to use Insight Academy of Arizona ’s online school platform by K12.
In certain cases, based on financial need, Insight Academy of Arizona may loan a computer to an enrolling family. This determination will take place during the enrollment process.
Using a computer is fundamental to participating in an online school, but you and your student only need basic computer skills to attend. In the earlier elementary grades, the student’s Learning Coach (a parent, guardian, or other trusted adult) is required to use the computer to help their younger child learn and participate in online school. Learning Coaches always play a vital role in their student’s education, but the teachers at Insight Academy of Arizona support students directly. During middle and high school, the Learning Coach’s direct role with the computer lessens significantly as students become more self-directed and computer fluent.
No. While high-speed internet makes the online learning experience more seamless, it is not required for enrollment or attendance.
ISAZ families who need support with our K12 School (OLS) platform or other tech-related issues can visit help.K12.com or call 866.512.2273 (select option 2).
Computers loaned by ISAZ follow the technical specs listed here.
