Genesis Steps Across the Graduation Stage and Into Her Future

Cameras click, caps soar to the sky, and graduates beam with pride as they walk across the stage. Genesis, a resident of Buckeye and now a graduate of Insight Academy of Arizona (ISAZ) took the big steps across the stage to grab her diploma just a few weeks ago. Her journey at ISAZ is a prime example of how virtual school can change the trajectory of a young student’s life.
Genesis and her family made the choice to enroll at ISAZ for her sophomore year of high school. Her brother, Jonnathan, wrestles competitively across the country and the supportive family travels with him. This made attending traditional high school nearly impossible for Genesis. But she has high goals for her future, so slacking on academia was not an option.
Thanks to ISAZ’s online format, Genesis was able to take school on the road and do her classwork in any environment, from hotel rooms to wrestling arenas. With dedication, focus and support from her parents who always provided encouraging words or a helpful nudge to turn in assignments on time, Genesis quickly mastered the art of virtual learning.
While Genesis traded in crowded hallways and lockers for the flexibility of online school, she did not miss out on some of the most important parts of high school – finding yourself and your passions.
At ISAZ, Genesis discovered an interest in the medical field, after enrolling in a sports medicine class for an elective credit. Her sports medicine class gave her a good foundation of understanding, but knowing she wanted to learn more, Genesis joined a work-based learning internship program to better grasp hands-on concepts and get further knowledge of the field.
Now with her diploma in hand and tassel flipped, Genesis is ready for her next chapter. She looks forward to pursuing her passion for medicine and hopes to be an anesthesiologist once she graduates college. She is enrolling at Arizona State University where she will study medical sciences.
Genesis’s academic journey Is proof that high school isn’t one-size-fits-all. With this alternative model, she was able to travel with her family, support her brother, thrive academically and find her calling through ISAZ.
Congratulations to Genesis, the future anesthesiologist, ASU student and proud ISAZ graduate. We are proud of your accomplishments and cannot wait to watch you tackle the next chapter of life with grace and dedication.
