FAQs
General FAQs
What grades are offered by Insight Academy of Arizona (ISAZ)?
ISAZ offers grades 7–12.
What are the location and age restrictions?
Students must be Arizona residents and 20 years of age or younger when they enroll. Students who turn 21 while enrolled and need additional education in order to receive a diploma may remain enrolled until they meet the graduation requirements or the end of the school year, whichever occurs first. Students enrolling in ninth grade must also be able to demonstrate completion of the eighth grade through official transcript or homeschool portfolios.
What does it cost to attend ISAZ?
ISAZ is a public school, so there is no tuition. We provide Arizona-certified teachers and instructional materials. Students and families will be responsible for providing some common household materials (such as printer ink and paper). Our enrollment consultants can help address your technological and computer questions and needs.
Does ISAZ provide textbooks and other instructional materials?
Yes. We provide textbooks and instructional materials, which are sent directly to students. These books and materials are dependent on the student’s grade level and the courses they’re enrolled in. Most materials are fully integrated to the online course, so the number of physical items delivered will be few. A loaner computer system is provided to eligible students.
What subjects will my child study?
English/language arts, math, science, and history are core courses. Other courses in the appropriate grade levels include art, health/PE, music, and world languages. High school students can choose from a variety of electives, including career-focused electives. Students can also access credit recovery courses.
Can my child work at their own pace?
Middle school and high school programs provide flexible learning environments. Each program includes weekly assignments, scheduled lessons and activities, and assignments with set due dates. Optional and required instructional sessions are scheduled throughout the week to support student learning. Students have the flexibility of creating a schedule that enables them to complete academic work and receive teacher support throughout the day. All programs meet applicable statutes and mandates concerning academic progress and attendance as outlined by the State Board of Education.
What if my child is behind on credits or failing classes?
ISAZ specializes in addressing the needs of students who are struggling. Our credit recovery and remediation program help students get back on track.
What is the attendance policy?
As an Arizona public school, ISAZ is required to offer 180 instructional days during the school year. Contact our office for specific grade-by-grade attendance requirements
Can our family take a vacation during the school year?
The school calendar includes school holidays or vacation time. Whenever possible, family vacations should align with school vacation days. Parents are encouraged to contact their student’s teacher if they plan a vacation that does not coordinate with the school calendar.
How much time will my child spend online?
We expect that middle school students will spend more than 60 percent of their time online. High school students will spend 80+ percent of their school time on the computer. Students also do hands-on science experiments, read novels, and complete math problems that are done without the computer.
How do students interact socially?
Students spend time with classmates online and through school outings, field trips, esports, community service, and other activities. Families can get together in their local communities through our private Facebook groups. In addition to school-based clubs, K12 online national clubs help connect students with like interests and passions.
Do you provide curriculum for students with special needs?
Depending on a child’s IEP, we can tailor your child’s learning experience to meet their needs. To discuss your child’s needs with us, please contact our office, and we’ll put you in touch with our special education team.
Can students enroll and begin classes at any time of the year?
Students can submit an enrollment application anytime during the year and, once approved, start at the next scheduled start date.
If my student has been expelled from another school, can they enroll at ISAZ?
Each case will be reviewed based on records from your current or former school district. As an Arizona public school, ISAZ may honor current expulsions from another district. Approval for enrollment will not be granted until the case is reviewed.
What is ISAZ’s policy on bullying?
ISAZ is committed to a safe educational environment for all students, employees, parents/legal guardians, volunteers, and community members that is free from harassment, intimidation or bullying. Read ISAZ’s policy on bullying [PDF].
Will my child have the same graduation opportunities as students in traditional public schools?
Yes. ISAZ is a public school in Arizona, so students can earn a diploma based upon successful completion and mastery of course content. ISAZ academic counselors meet with students annually to review credits earned and credits needed, so families are kept informed of the credit requirements toward earning a high school diploma.
How will I know when my student’s enrollment has been approved?
The ISAZ Enrollment Processing Center will contact you, indicating that your enrollment has been approved or noting documents that are still needed to completely process your application. A representative will call you to discuss enrollment in the program and course placement.
Can students participate in extracurricular activities in their resident school district?
This decision is made on a district-by-district basis. Please contact your school district for details.
How can I view the ISAZ annual financial report?
